Iaido kennel: Home-raised Japanese breeds in Europe
Welcome to Iaido — a small, home-based kennel in Tallinn, Estonia. We are passionately dedicated to preserving, breeding, and raising healthy, home-raised Shiba and rare Shikoku breeds.
My journey with Japanese dogs began in 2015 when I welcomed my very first Shiba. The breed was quite rare in Estonia, with no more than two dozen dogs in the entire country. In 2019, I fell in love with the Shikoku breed after seeing them at a dog show in Latvia, which led to welcoming my first Shikoku in 2021. Today, my kennel is professionally dedicated to these two Japanese breeds. Knowing that primitive breeds require specific attention, we place a major emphasis on early socialization to ensure confident companions for your family. We focus on preserving their authentic traits, health, raising every dog with absolute devotion to ensure high-quality puppies for families worldwide.
Shiba
The Shiba is an independent breed with a confident, cat-like personality. They are amazing companions who will accompany you on a road trip, to a restaurant or while hiking. They are clean, intelligent, and have excellent training skills when they have the right motivation and mutual respect.
Shikoku
Shikokus are honestly something else—definitely not your average dog. Shikokus are highly analytical and deeply perceptive, sharing an incredibly deep bond with their owners. They have a strong hunting instinct, exceptional speed, and remarkable jumping ability. Shikokus are highly trainable, fast learners who are thrilled to work together with their human.
